Mallet Toe

A mallet toe occurs when the toe bends downwards at the end toe joint which is called the DIPJ (distal interphalangeal joint)

The toe often develops a painful corn to the tip of the toe.  The nail can also become damaged if the toe is left untreated.

Treatment of mallet toes is straight-forward.  A small operation to the toe will undo the buckle and straighten the toe permanently.
