Mr Metcalfe will put you at ease while he listens to you explaining your symptoms. This will allow him to gain a good understanding of the clinical history. He will ask you about your general health, hobbies and work to ensure he has a complete picture of your foot problem.

Will I be given a diagnosis on the day of my first appointment?

Mr Metcalfe will vey likely be able to give you a pretty clear idea of the cause of your big toe joint pain at the first appointment although it is usual to be sent for additional tests such as x-ray, MRI or other tests to confirm the initial clinical diagnosis.

Why might I need to have an x-ray or other test?
